Vishal G. Arora honoured with Citizen Award form the City of Brampton

On Wednesday May 15th, the City of Brampton held their annual Citizen Awards Ceremony. This year, the City of Brampton honoured Vishal G. Arora, presenting him with the Long Term Service Award. In recognition for his contributions towards the development and advancement of community life throughout the City of Brampton. His involvement in the Arts of Brampton came when he began as a Community Outreach and Business Advisor for the Academy of Cre8ive Arts whom run their classes at studios in Downtown Brampton’s Central Public School.

“It was a pleasure and pride for the community to honour Vishal and his community contributions,” said Vicky Dhillon, Councillor for Wards 9 and 10, City of Brampton. “Congratulations Mr. Arora from the City of Brampton, we appreciate the great leadership you have shown in the community.”


Vishal’s contributions towards the advancement of community social services and his work expand across many activities he has organized and taken part in such as Speak Out!, an event designed for youth, by youth, to educate them about the political process and why they should get involved. Also, his work as the Artistic Director for IIFA Buzz Brampton with events taking place across the city leading up to the grand finale weekend in Downtown Brampton. After playing with the Brampton Minor Baseball Inc. (BMBI) and umpiring for a combined 10 years, he also began to volunteer as a coach from the 2012 season.

“I truly feel honoured and I am so grateful to the Academy of Cre8ive Arts for nominating me and to the City of Brampton for presenting me with this award today,” said Vishal G. Arora, but the credit really belongs to the great organizations making Brampton a great community to live in. "I would like to share this award with my guests that have accompanied me here tonight, my parents and grandparents, Manraj Saini, and my nominator, Miss Sohni from the Academy of Cre8ive Arts, who all play the most important part in my achievements.”

The 2013 Citizen Award is one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the City of Brampton, offering a recognition program for outstanding citizens in our community who have made achievements within the past year.

Over 300 guests enjoyed an evening filled with performances including The Marc Joseph Band and Jade’s Hip Hop Academy.  The Citizen of the Year award 2012 was presented to Dan Labrecque.
